Guardians of the Galaxy - GoodOnNetflix

We completely missed Guardians of the Galaxy when it was in the cinemas. Now that the sequel is playing everywhere it’s time to catch up with it.

Is it Appropriate?

It’s a PG-13, so I checked out the ‘content advisory’ on IMDB. There’s a bit of language, but I think it’s better that they hear it and know not to use it than pretend that it doesn’t exist. The violence isn’t gory and the kids are either ready the any other references to adult themes or they’ll fly right over their heads. I decided it was safe to show my 9 year-old daughter and 12 year-old son.

Is It Any Good?

Once again, Stanley wasn’t that keen on the prospect of seeing this movie. He doesn’t like Star Wars (1977) so I don’t blame him. Carla will watch pretty much anything. In the event we all laughed a lot at the banter, which is way more edgy than anything they’ll hear on TV, and enjoyed the action throughout. Groot was a particular favourite.

Will We Watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?

Probably. Most people I know that have seen it have said that it doesn’t work as well as this one. Some fans seem to love the second by default, but I doubt I would fall into that category. Even so, I expect the sequel will be in the multiplexes for some time, so I’m sure it’ll be our best option at some point.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy was a great movie and was appropriate for all ages too. It has action, humor and a cute little Racoon that uses heavy weaponry. It also has a plant who walks and repeats his name everywhere he goes. Volume Two was decent as well. These are movies made by Marvel Studios and are big budget films with major special effects and decent actors
